Vance Lee is a Chinese-CERian student at Stuxent University, majoring in computer science. Being born after the Cultural Revolution, this led to his given name being English instead of Chinese. He is a hacker, though he mostly hacks just to grab pornography off the Internet as it's banned in CERia.
Physical appearance[]
Vance is portrayed as having red-rimmed glasses, short dark hair, and is usually seen wearing a short-sleeved shirt that has the graphic design of a tie showing "I love apple pi" and a short-sleeved, striped dress shirt over it. When he becomes older, his hair grows out and his gaze sharpens.
Virtual appearance[]
Vance's cyber representation is depicted as having a block for a head, similar to a Rubik's Cube design, wearing a short-sleeved shirt, and a red tie that graphically represents "I love apple pi."
The cube itself follows the same color pattern of a Rubik's Cube with each face a solid color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white, with white being the top of the cube and yellow being the bottom (the part that joins the neck). With the exception of the top and bottom faces, the rest all have a black silhouette of Vance's face with his glasses outlined in red and the glass part itself being white. All the individual blocks that make up the Rubik's Cube can also split away with the exception of the one block that is connected to the neck.
Personality[]
Vance, having been born into an upper middle class family after the cultural revolution, has never known hardship and, while intelligent and can get over the Great Firewall, only does so to access porn while he spends the rest of his time trying to get a girlfriend. Due to this, Frey has described Vance as a "sheep in man's clothing", stating that while Vance is educated, well off, and tech-savvy, he's otherwise apathetic about the government and is simply satiated with trivial entertainment.
Trivia[]
- There is a possible relation between Vance and Kai (from Knite). It is implied they could be cousins, though they live in alternate universes.
- His father works as a tech retailer and thus Vance gets a lot of tech stuff (like computer parts) for free.[1]
- A post on Wenqing Yan's Tumblr shows a cosplayer's version of Vance kissing Frey and she says in strikethrough text "This is now canon". It is not known if this is a joke or not.[2]
